The Coalition

Our Mission Statement:
To promote responsible pet
ownership while reducing overpopulation and homelessness through low-cost and
no-cost Spay and Neuter for Bay County, Florida and the surrounding areas.

Operation Spay Bay was founded by it's President, Mary Marie Clemo and the four rescue groups above:  Castway Cats, The Humane Society of Bay County, Animal Rescue Center and PCB Paws and Claws.

Countdown to Opening a Low-Cost Spay/Neuter Clinic!

Stages of Progress - As of April 12, 2013


Stage One -  100 % COMPLETE

-Initial meetings of like-minded rescue groups & individuals to form a coalition group
-Define our goal to open a low cost/high volume spay/neuter clinic in Bay County
-Research existing low cost/high volume spay/neuter programs
-Research legal requirements for operating a veterinary clinic in the state of FLorida
-Agree on program:  Humane Alliance- National Spay Neuter Response Team based out of Asheville, NC
-Select a name for our coalition: Operation Spay Bay
 
Stage Two - 100% COMPLETE

- Step 1 of the HA - NSNRT application - complete Community Assessment Form
-Define mission statement, logo, and create informational flyer
-Complete paperwork to function as a non-profit organization in the state of Florida
-Set up all business accounts, communication accounts, and social media accounts
-Complete and file application for 501(c)(3) tax exempt status
 
Stage Three - 100% COMPLETE

-Step 2 of the HA - NSNRT application - complete Projected Clinic Budget Form
-Prepare business plan/further define long term goals
-Find and secure clinic location
-Define financial needs to get clinic up and running
-Fundraising efforts through donations, events, grants and community involvement
-Awareness programs through social media, education, and community involvement
-Recruit additional volunteers/consultants with needed skills to help realize OSB goals
 
Stage Four- 20% Complete

-Step 3 of the HA - NSNRT application - complete Program Application (Complete)
-Clinic renovations (location confirmation & renovation bids)
-Apply for PetSmart Surgical Equipment Grant (Complete, initial approval-final submission needed)
-Hire Veterinarian (Initiating)
-Hire Office Manager (Initiating)
-Permits and licensing for operating a veterinary clinic (Initiating)
-Hire clinic staff (Initiating)

Stage Five

-Step 4 of the HA – NSNRT application-  high volume surgery training for Vet/clinic staff in Asheviile
-Ready clinic for opening
-Plan transport program to service outlying areas/neighboring counties
-Begin scheduling 1st month of appointments
-OPEN FOR BUSINESS
